Job Summary: The work zone supervisor directly manages all work sites and will have direct supervisory responsibility for site supervisors. This individual will ensure CTS work sites operate in a safe and consistent manner which our clients deserve and have come to expect.

  • Supervise work site staff to ensure all work sites are operational and meet CTS requirements.

  • Consistently communicate the CTS expectations for safety to ensure all work-site staff understand and behave in alignment with expectations

  • Coach supervisors to properly report and document opportunities for improvement on the job site including staff member behavior, job performance and attendance.

  • Collaborate with Safety and Training Coordinator to ensure staff members are properly trained

  • Document traffic activities accurately and any jobsite information; complete all required paperwork according to policy and procedure

  • Supervise flaggers and drivers to ensure that company standards are being met at all times

  • Coordinate with Scheduling Coordinator to ensure all jobs are operational with the proper equipment and staff member requirements

  • Communicate with work site supervisors to ensure staff has been trained appropriately to perform their work

  • Collaborate with external and internal personnel to ensure safety and work environment standards are being upheld including customers and agencies such as OSHA or the BWC

  • Follow-up on any noted violations or failed inspections to ensure necessary corrective action and retraining have been completed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has direct supervisory responsibility for a team of inspectors and trainers. 

 

Work Environment:

Custom Traffic Solutions is an outsourced traffic safety company; therefore, there are two components to the CTS work environment: office and job site. In the office, an employee works under typical office conditions, and the noise level is usually quiet. On a jobsite, an employee frequently works near moving equipment, oncoming traffic, heavy machinery, and be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, biological hazards, airborne fumes, outdoor weather conditions and loud, prolonged noise.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Travel:

  • Limited travel may occur for this position.

 

Required Experience:

  • Previous safety or site management experience required;

  • 2-3 years’ experience in traffic control or like industry is a plus.

  • 1-3 years’ supervisory experience of field employees

  • Must be proficient with MS Office.

  • Must be familiar with OSHA requirements.
